Adult Volunteer Opportunities

Our adult volunteer program is for those who are 18 years or older. You'll join a caring team of folks who love to help others - and make new friends along the way.

Opportunities

For position overviews, view our Adult Volunteer Positions page. Below, you'll find a summary of the types of opportunities available.

Retail Volunteers

Did you know our volunteers raise money for the hospital through five hospital gift shops, two community stores, two coffee shops and break-open ticket sales? As a retail volunteer, you'll help keep these outlets running so we can fund even more medical equipment and supplies and other hospital projects for Durham families. And as an added bonus, you'll bring a smile to the many patients, families and staff members who shop with us! Interested? Let us know and we'll work to place you in the retail outlet that's right for you.

Patient Care Support Volunteers

If you're the type of person who loves to connect with all kinds of people face-to-face, you might enjoy one of our patient care support volunteer positions. From helping in hymn sings to directing visitors in the hospital lobby, there are a wide range of opportunities available.

Patient and Family Experience Advisors

To make our hospital the best it can be, and in support of our strategic direction to empower staff, physicians and volunteers to participate in decision making, we need input from you-our community members. We have oppportunities for volunteer Advisors on our Patient and Family Advisory Counciles as well as many other important activities. If you are interested in bringing your perspective to the table and have had any experience with Lakeridge Health within the past two years, this role might be of interese to you. Please visit our Patient and Family Experience Advisors page to view more information including the Advisor Handbook as your first step.
