Laboratory Medicine

The Laboratory Medicine Program at Lakeridge Health operates clinical laboratories at the Oshawa, Ajax Pickering, Bowmanville, and Port Perry Hospitals. Our laboratories are licensed with the Ministry of Health, and accredited by Accreditation Canada Diagnostics.

The laboratories provide phlebotomy services and testing of specimens for inpatients and patients of outpatient clinics and programs throughout Lakeridge Health. Our Transfusion Medicine department also provides blood products for patients who are unable to access this service in the community.

Our scope of services includes testing in biochemistry, haematology, immunohaematology, immunology, microbiology, cytogenetics, and pathology. Our menu of tests is available to health-care providers, along with information on how to order tests and collect specimens for the testing required. Our team of medical laboratory professionals are here to support and assist in answering questions on our examination methods or interpretation of results.

If your health-care provider has ordered laboratory testing for you or a family member at one of our locations, you will be visiting our designated areas to have your bloodwork collected or to drop off your specimen. Our hospital sites have signage to help you find us within the hospital when you arrive.

Our collection areas operate during the following hours:

Oshawa site: Monday to Thursday – 10 AM to 2 PM
Ajax Pickering site: Monday to Friday – 8 AM to 4 PM
Bowmanville site: Monday to Friday - 10 AM to 2 PM
Port Perry site: Monday to Friday – 10 AM to 2 PM

Patients accessing services at Lakeridge Health can sign up for MyChart, which provides access to laboratory results online. Upon registration, patients will be asked if they wish to participate in patient experience feedback opportunities.
