We Welcome the Presence of Family Members and Partners-in-Care

We know how important it is for our patients to have their family members and partners-in-care involved in their care and care planning.

Staying with Us

At the beginning of any care experience, you will be asked to tell us who you want to be involved in your care and care planning.  Having one or two family members/partners in-care identified as spokespersons helps improve communication between the health care team and your family.

Family Presence Policy

Your Role as a Family Member/Partner in Care

What you need to know when you visit a patient at Lakeridge Health:

Timing Your Visit

  • You may need to shorten your visit if your loved one is tired and needs to rest.  To keep the hospital a restful environment for our patients, we keep a quiet time from 10pm-7am.  If the patient wants you to stay during the quiet time hours, please talk to a member of the health care team about this.

Be Wise and Sanitize

  •  Please help keep everyone safe from infections by using hand sanitizer in the hospital.

Do Not Visit if you are Feeling Sick

  • Do not visit a patient if you feel unwell or have symptoms such as cough, fever, runny nose, sore throat, diarrhea, vomiting, or new rash.

Visiting a Patient's Room

  • You're encouraged to spend time with your loved one, however, you may be asked to leave the room at times for privacy and care reasons.
  • The number of people visiting in the room at one time may need to be limited to one or two.

Children in the Hospital

  • Children who require supervision must be with an adult at all times. This cannot be the patient.

Keep the Hospital Scent-Free

  • Lakeridge Health is a scent-free environment.
  • Do not use any perfume or scent before you come to the hospital.

Respect the Health Care Team

  • Respect the member of the patient's health care team.
  • We will not allow abusive or disruptive behaviours.

Talk to a member of the health care team if you have questions about any of this information.
