COVID-19 Positive Cases in Durham Region - Statement from Lakeridge Health (March 14)

Lakeridge Health received confirmation that three individuals in Durham Region tested positive for COVID-19. To date, this brings the number of confirmed cases in Durham Region to five.

One individual tested positive for COVID-19 at the Oshawa Hospital emergency department. Two individuals, a married couple, were tested at the Physician Assessment Clinic in Oshawa Hospital.

The three individuals have been discharged and are now in self-isolation. Durham Region Health Department is monitoring the cases and conducting any follow-up with close contacts in keeping with public health protocols.

Protocols and precautions were skillfully implemented by the team, ensuring the continued safety of patients, visitors and team members.

There was no risk of exposure as a result of these cases.

Over the last few days, Lakeridge Health has put in place new processes and procedures that will further protect the community’s exposure to COVID-19. 

All Lakeridge Health hospitals remain safe and all programs and clinics are operating normally.
