Lakeridge Health video updates construction inside hospital

Durham Region – In an ongoing pledge to update North Durham residents on the progress of Port Perry Hospital’s restoration and construction, Lakeridge Health released a new video today, outlining mechanical room upgrades inside the hospital. The video also showcases a tour inside Port Perry Hospital highlighting the construction progress to date.

“As part of our commitment to keep everyone informed on the work that is being done at Port Perry Hospital, we know it is important the North Durham community has access to our progress as we work hard to restore and reopen the hospital,” said Matthew Anderson, Lakeridge Health President and CEO.

Late last year, Lakeridge Health announced restoration and reopening timelines for the hospital. Based on the plan, construction and restoration are scheduled to be complete the first week of July with the first patients receiving care the week of September 3-8, with a target of just after Labour Day. It will take between six and eight weeks to clean and sterilize the building and test new medical equipment before teams are transitioned back to the hospital for reopening.

“We want to thank the community for its unwavering support and patience during the temporary closure of our hospital. We will continue to bring you the latest developments throughout the restoration phase and we look forward to welcoming and serving patients in September,” said Anderson.
