The Auxiliary of Lakeridge Health Port Perry
The Auxiliary to Lakeridge Health Port Perry was founded in 1952. What started as a small group of 5 Executive members and 15 representatives from the surrounding community, has become a large successful group of outstanding volunteers.
We presently have more than 160 active members who work tirelessly to support our Port Perry Hospital and its surrounding community.
Whether it is a fundraising event or volunteering in one of our 3 retail outlets, our volunteers continually contribute their efforts to raise money resulting in donating a considerable amount of money towards various medical devices which aid with patient care by our Health Care Professionals.
Some of the recent donations include, $350,000 towards the purchase of a CT Skan which is now in place and working.
A Mollie System was also purchased. This invaluable medical device is used in the treatment of breast cancer.

Fundraising
We have a strong fundraising history with a combination of several of our committees producing outstanding results. Our very successful Camille’s Closet Thrift Shop in the past 2 years has donated $100,000 to our main account. This year they have already donated $60,000 to our main account to use for the purchase of medical equipment. Our very successful Camille’s Corner Gift Shop and our Coffee Shack continue to contribute their profits to our main account in addition to providing front line support to all of the patients and visitors who enter the lobby of our hospital.
Additional fundraising events include our Pretty in Pink Fashion Show. It is organized by the Social and Fundraising Committees along with a huge team of volunteers. This event showcases some wonderful treasures found in our Camille’s Closet Thrift Shop along with some beautiful garments selected from some local merchants in Port Perry. A popup shop is also present and hosted by Camille’s Corner Gift Shop. Our most recent fashion show held in May raised a significant amount of money and brought our community together by hosting 300 people.
In Patient Services
We have a very unique team of volunteers who are part of The Friendly Visitor Team. They personally visit patients in their rooms, providing a comforting visit, reading material and puzzles. They also hand out stuffed hearts, heart hugs and small stuffed animals, all which bring the patients comfort during their stay. One of our team members is a talented Ukelele Musician. She plays and sings along with her teammate to the delight of the patients and staff.
Our Day Surgery program runs 5 days per week, providing patient support, and hospital door to car door service for the comfort of our patients. They are also front line volunteers for patients and visitors who need guidance and support to find their way through the hospital.
Our New Life Center Knitters provide tiny hats and booties to all of the babies who are born in the hospital, often themed for Christmas, Halloween, Easter/Spring and Thanksgiving.
