Department Chief and Medical Director, Anesthesia
Lakeridge Health, one of Ontario’s largest and most innovative regional health systems, is seeking an exceptional physician leader to serve as Chief & Medical Director, Anesthesia. This is a unique opportunity to lead a high-performing department in a progressive organization recognized for exemplary care, academic excellence, and its ongoing work to establish comprehensive tertiary surgical services in Durham Region. Serving a fast-growing population of over 750,000 residents across five hospitals and multiple care sites — including the newly opened state-of-the-art ambulatory Jerry Coughlan Health and Wellness Centre (JCHWC) facility — Lakeridge Health delivers a full continuum of care, from community-based services to advanced tertiary programs such as cancer care, dialysis, regional surgery programs including thoracic surgery, advanced robotics and critical care. The organization has earned Accreditation Canada’s highest standing for quality and safety, and its anesthesia services at JCHWC have been celebrated for bringing innovative, efficient, and patient-centered surgical and procedural care closer to the community.
As Chief & Medical Director, you will inspire and guide a talented team of anesthesiologists delivering comprehensive services across the region. You will foster excellence in clinical practice, education, and research in collaboration with our strong academic partners, advancing the Department’s contribution to teaching and scholarship. You will also support an interprofessional model of care including our Anesthesia Assistant program. We are looking for a Royal College-certified anesthesiologist (or equivalent) with demonstrated leadership experience, a passion for quality improvement, and the vision and ability to advance anesthesia services in this dynamic and growing region. At Lakeridge Health, you will have the opportunity to mentor the next generation of physicians, lead transformative initiatives, and embed research, education, and innovation as core pillars of the department — strengthening its academic mission while driving excellence in tertiary and regional care.
