New Board Chair for Lakeridge Health

Donna Kingelin of Haydon takes on leadership role

Durham - - Donna Kingelin is the new Chair of the Lakeridge Health Board of Trustees following the hospital’s Annual General Meeting. That meeting also saw the election of four new Trustees of the Lakeridge Health Board.

Kingelin is a lifelong Durham resident, a Registered Nurse, and brings a career of senior health care executive experience to her role.

“Lakeridge Health really has momentum right now and I’m determined to keep that going,” says Kingelin. “Our Board is focused on continuing to drive quality and safety improvements so that we can reach our goal of being the safest hospital in Ontario.”

Kingelin’s career has focused on senior’s health. Her experience includes working as the Chief Operating Officer of Revera, which runs long term care homes and seniors’ residences as well as providing home care services, and as the Managing Director of Holiday Corporation which operates independent retirement communities across Canada. Kingelin joined the Lakeridge Health Board of Trustees in 2009. She was most recently the Chair of Resources and has previously chaired the Finances, Human Resources and Quality committees of the Board.

Joining Kingelin as new Trustees on the Lakeridge Health Board are:

  • Jeffrey Beaton of Whitby
  • Sharon Cochran of Whitby
  • Ben Gray of Port Perry
  • Jeff Somerville of Whitby

“We have a lot of talented community volunteers on our Board,” says Kevin Empey, President and CEO of Lakeridge Health. “I’m really looking forward to working with Donna and the entire Board to keep delivering excellent quality care to families in Durham Region.”
