Medical Oncologist - Full Time

The R.S. McLaughlin Durham Regional Cancer Centre (RSMDRCC) is seeking a permanent full-time Medical Oncologist to join the existing team of 14 medical oncologists, one GP oncologist, and 7 hematologists.

RSMDRCC is a well-integrated highly regarded cancer centre in Ontario and provides comprehensive multidisciplinary cancer management to a population of approximately 1.6 million people. Our disease sites include gastrointestinal, lung, breast, gynecological, skin and genitourinary cancers, with plans for additional sites in the future. Our hematologists provide care for all hematological malignancies as well as benign diagnoses. In addition to the well-established medical oncology program, we also have a strong radiation program with 12 radiation oncologists providing external-beam radiotherapy (including SBRT, SRS), as well as an active brachytherapy program for prostate, gynecologic and skin malignancies. Our Centre hosts the Central East Thoracic surgical oncology program, and is a Gynecology Oncology Centre.

There is an active regional program and the successful candidate would be expected to provide onsite clinical service at oncology clinics situated in Oshawa and a peripheral clinic. Our peripheral clinics are located in Cobourg (Northumberland Hills Hospital) and Peterborough (Peterborough Regional Health Centre).  The successful candidate will mainly be based in our Oshawa clinic, and will primarily treat gastrointestinal cancer and genitourinary cancer. Given potential for developing a Neuro-oncology program in the future, additional expertise in neuro-oncology would be an asset. The medical oncology/hematology program actively participates in clinical trials as well as residency educational programs.

The successful applicant must be eligible for licensing as a specialist in Ontario and have Canadian Certification in Medical Oncology at the time of appointment. Start date is July 2024.
