Cardiologist

Located just 30 minutes east of downtown Toronto, in beautiful Durham Region, Lakeridge Health-Ajax/Pickering hospital (LHAP) is looking for a Cardiologist to participate in our hospital model, with a focus on the provision of services to the following areas; emergency department, inpatient consult service, rapid assessment clinic, and cardiac diagnostics.

We currently have a position available for a full-time Cardiologist to join a team of Cardiologists with subspecialty skill sets and well-established practices. Cardiology clinical service at LHAP is consultative with no “Most Responsible Physician” (MRP) component. Physicians will have the opportunity to supervise and report studies in the cardiac diagnostics lab which hosts a broad complement of modalities including treadmill stress testing, contrast echocardiography, transesophageal echo, stress echo, SPECT imaging, holter monitoring, Cardiac CT, and Cardiac MRI.  They will also work with our Advance Care Nurse Practitioner in the inpatient Heart Failure Stewardship program. Participation in the General Medicine call schedule is not required. 

Strong clinical and cardiac imaging skills will be expected. Level III certification in echocardiography, Cardiac CT, or Cardiac MRI is an asset but not required. At least Level II nuclear certification is also desirable but not required. Particular interest or expertise in congestive heart failure will be looked upon favourably.

Applicants must be licensed or eligible for a license to practice in Ontario with accreditation in Cardiology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or its equivalent.  A strong interest in teaching would be an asset as Lakeridge Health is associated with Queen’s University and the successful candidate is encouraged to pursue an academic appointment.
