Anesthesiologist and Anesthetist Opportunities 

We are inviting applications for permanent full-time Anesthesiologists, permanent or part-time Anesthetists to join our collegial group of physicians providing care in Durham Region. These positions are located at our Lakeridge Health Ajax-Pickering, Oshawa, Bowmanville and Port Perry hospitals.

Lakeridge Health Ajax/Pickering is a 174-bed, full-service community hospital that provides safe, quality care, with 27 surgical beds and 8 operating rooms. Every year, more than 75,000 people visit the Emergency Department at Ajax Pickering Hospital. We provide 24-hour labour epidural service for our Maternal Newborn Program, which includes 1300 deliveries per year, level 2C Obstetrics and 2C NICU.  Services include:  General surgery, Orthopedics, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Otolaryngology/Head and Neck, Plastics, Urology and Endoscopy.

Lakeridge Health Oshawa is a 500-bed hospital with 72 surgical beds and 14 operating theatres. Every year, more than 95,000 people visit the Emergency Department at Oshawa Hospital. Services include:  General, Thoracic, Orthopedic, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Gynecology Oncology, Otolaryngology/Head and Neck, Plastics, Urology, and Endoscopy.  We provide 24-hour labour epidural service for our Maternal Newborn Program, which includes 2,800-2,900 deliveries per year, level 2C Obstetrics and 2C NICU.

Lakeridge Health Port Perry is a 30-bed, full-service community hospital that provides safe, quality care, with 25 medical/surgical beds and 5 New Life Centre beds. We provide 24-hour labour epidural service for our New Life Centre, which includes 240 deliveries per year, level 1 Obstetrics. Supported services include: Dental, General, Obstetrics and Endoscopy.

Lakeridge Health Bowmanville is a full-service community hospital, it is home to the Regional Eye Centre providing care to residents of the Municipality of Clarington. Services include: Emergency and Critical Care, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Plastics and General Surgery.

You will have teaching opportunities through the Lakeridge Health partnership with Queen’s University, for those interested and qualified. Lakeridge Health offers many administrative options for those interested in pursuing physician leadership positions.

Requirements:

Anesthesiologist: FRCPC certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent). Anesthetist: CCFP Anesthesia with the College of Family Physicians of Canada. All candidates must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.  Language of work:  English.  The position start date is negotiable.  Remuneration is based on a fee-for-service billing system accompanied with Hospital On-Call Funding (HOCC).
