Port Perry Hospital Now Open
On September 5, 2018, Lakeridge Health welcomed patients and families, community members and the health care team to the newly restored Port Perry Hospital. Just over one year ago, we committed to the North Durham Community to reopen Port Perry Hospital after a fire forced the temporary closure of the hospital.

Over the past year, a number of upgrades have been made to Port Perry Hospital, including:
- Restoration of mechanical and electrical infrastructure and sections of the hospital damaged by fire;
- Mechanical and electrical room upgrades, including the installation of twin generators;
- Improvements to many patient care areas, including the New Life Centre for moms and their babies;
- The installation of new flooring in the Emergency Department and Diagnostic Imaging, where patients visit
for x-rays and ultrasound; and - Upgraded exterior brick work to modernize the building’s facade.
Additional upgrades have also been made to enhance the patient experience, such as improvements to the
New Life Centre where patient washrooms are brighter and rooms feature walk-in showers. These improvements
will help Lakeridge Health, the Foundation and community partners continue to serve the needs of Durham Region’s growing population.
