Dr. Doust became Section Chief of Medical Genetics at Lakeridge Health Oshawa and Peterborough Regional Health Centre in July 2015. Q: What do you enjoy about your role as genetics lead for both Lakeridge Health and Peterborough Regional Health Centre?

This role gives me the opportunity to work with two great teams providing patients and families with genetic services close to home. As genetics is a newly established program in Peterborough, I am doing my best to apply and share the best community genetics practices between our two centres. This is possible with help from our professional and compassionate teams. I enjoy working with health care professionals that make referrals to genetics programs outside of their facilities and to ones that continue to support
our programs by their referrals.

Q: What are your goals for the genetics program in Central East Region?

My goal is to create a bridge between the Lakeridge Health and Peterborough Regional Health Centre genetics
programs and unite them as a regional genetics program. We provide care for cancer, prenatal and general genetics patients. Our centres meet quarterly where we share our experiences and brilliant ideas about patient-centered care.
