3,000 Community members participated in a telephone town hall

Durham Region – On Monday, April 29, about 3,000 Durham Region community members joined Lakeridge Health leaders in a telephone town hall to provide feedback on health services and discuss an ambitious new plan for the future of health care in Durham Region.

The hour-long event was hosted by Jerry Archer, familiar to many as an on-air personality from KX96. Lakeridge Health President and CEO, Matthew Anderson and Chief of Staff, Dr. Tony Stone provided insights into the hospital’s new five-year Strategic Plan and opportunities to meet the future needs of Durham Region’s fast-growing communities and to promote a healthy population.

Through polling questions and a Q&A, town hall participants provided valuable feedback about which initiatives Lakeridge Health should prioritize and opportunities to improve access to health care in the region. Responses will be posted on www.lakeridgehealth.on.ca/letstalk in the coming days, along with a consolidated list of questions and answers and an audio replay of the call.

Over the past 15 months, Lakeridge Health undertook one of the most intensive and inclusive consultation processes in our history, with over 18,000 points of input and feedback from community members, patients and families, our team and partners. The information provided at the telephone town hall adds to these important insights and advice received over the past year.

“The direct input and feedback we receive from the people of Durham Region helps us to better understand the health services and issues that matter most in our communities,” said Anderson. “The high level of participation shows that this community is extremely committed to local health care. We look forward to the next telephone town hall this summer and to continuing to work with our community to build a strong regional health system for the future.”
