Mask Mandate continues at Lakeridge Health

Posted on Friday June 10, 2022

At Lakeridge Health, ensuring the safety of all patients and their families, as well as staff and physicians is our top priority.

On June 11, Ontario will lift its mandatory mask mandate in high-risk settings that include hospitals and other health-care settings. However, hospitals have the authority and ability to keep their own masking policies in place to support healthy and safe environments.

For the foreseeable future, all individuals entering any Lakeridge Health hospital or facility will be required to wear a mask while on-site.

This decision is in alignment with the COVID-19 Toronto Region Hospital Operations Table and is consistent with other Ontario hospitals. We believe a mask mandate at Lakeridge Health will help to ensure the safest environment for everyone within our facilities.

The use of a mask continues to be effective at limiting the spread of COVID-19 and other communicable diseases. We encourage Durham Region residents to wear a mask in any situation they feel is right for them, particularly when in crowded indoor spaces with poor ventilation, if they or someone they live with is immunocompromise or at higher-risk for severe illness, or if they are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19.

Individuals arriving at any of our facilities will also be screened and asked to don a hospital-issued mask if they are not already wearing a medical grade mask or N95 respirator, as per our current protocol.

Thank you for your commitment to keeping Durham Region healthy.
