Lakeridge Health Port Perry Renovations are Complete

Posted on Wednesday March 08, 2017

Port Perry –  A yearlong renovation has resulted in a new, improved Port Perry hospital that will help staff in their daily work and improve patients and their families’ hospital experience.

“Our great team deserves a great building to help to deliver the best care possible to our patients and community,” says Leslie Motz, Vice President Clinical Services & Chief Nursing Executive.  “During the renovations, it was business as usual. No beds were closed and the frontline team continued to provide the compassionate care they are famous for - in what often felt like a construction zone.”

The renovations included:

  • Making patient washrooms wider to allow for someone using a walker or wheelchair to pass through.
  • Increasing the number of private rooms available.
  • Four rooms with finishes appropriate for palliative care patients.
  • Updating the medical gas system to meet current standards.
  • Providing a larger quiet room for families.
  • Renovated lobby.
  • Adding sprinklers to the inpatient unit and lobby.

“This renovation is our community’s renovation,” Lesley says. “It wouldn’t have been possible without their support.”

The overall cost of the project was $4 million with $3.25 million of that total being provided by donations from Port Perry Hospital Foundation, which includes a $350,000 donation from the Port Perry Hospital Auxiliary, and $187,500 contributions from both Durham Region and Township of Scugog.

Other recent investments at the Port Perry site include a new ultrasound machine, solar panels installed on the roof, efficient lighting upgrades, and new heating and cooling units.
