Workplace Giving

What is Workplace Giving?

Workplace giving encourages your employees to choose Lakeridge Health as their charity of choice through various initiatives. For example: you could start an employee fund drive, offering workers the opportunity to make a one-time gift or spread out payroll deductions over the course of a year.

Who can participate?

Any organization can create a workplace giving program, no matter the size of your organization. Every dollar makes a difference. For example, if 200 people from your company gave $2 a week for a year, you would generate $20,800 to be used to support your local hospital.

A 2010 Edelman Good Purpose Study found 66% of global consumers would recommend a brand's products or services if there is a good cause behind them. The same study found 64 per cent believe it's no longer enough for corporations to give money; they must integrate good causes into their everyday business.

Why Workplace Giving?

This program benefits everyone involved:

Employers:

  • Receive recognition in our Annual Report publication if you raise $5,000 or more
  • Promote your organization's commitment to giving back
  • Offer exciting leadership opportunities for your employees and increase staff morale

Employees:

  • Make automatic, convenient, tax-receipted gifts through payroll deduction or by cheque or credit card
  • Support a vital cause that affects thousands of people in our community, Lakeridge Health

Lakeridge Health Foundation:

  • Can rely on consistent funding for research, capital equipment and patient care initiatives

When can you start a program?

Workplace Giving can begin at any time and can run year round. Typically, kick-off events begin in the fall, so staff can determine their pledge amounts at this time, with distributions beginning in the new year.
