Status: Full Time - Day/Evenings (8 hour shifts - 37.5 Hours per week)

Program: Mental Health and Pinewood Centre Program



The Social Worker working within the Eating Disorders Program provides intake telephone screening for services and liaises with referral sources regarding services and referral processes. Provides psychosocial assessment, individual and family therapy, and potentially group psychotherapy, and psychoeducation to adolescents and adults with eating disorders. Provides ongoing psychosocial support to families and parents of adolescents and adults referred to the program. Provides limited inpatient consultation when adolescents and adults are admitted to hospital with eating disorders as time allows.Participates in the interdisciplinary and multi-modal care of adolescents and adults who receive services compliant with professional standards and participates in the database system that tracks visits and care, as appropriate. Engages in ongoing training and upgrading as are necessary to maintain optimal quality of care to the adolescents and adults who receive services. Is involved in outreach education and presentations to community partners appropriate to role. Performs other related duties as assigned.


* Master of Social Work Degree;

* Registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW); 

* Demonstrated extensive training and experience in the provision of   assessment and treatment services (individual, family, and group therapy) to adolescents and adults with eating disorders and associated psychiatric disorders;

* Demonstrated related experience preferably in a hospital environment;

* Working knowledge of the Mental Health Act of Ontario;

* Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a part of an interdisciplinary team,and to work effectively with community partners and all levels of staff;

* Ability to organize workload and establish priorities effectively;

* Proven strong clinical, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written;

* Demonstrated knowledge of health care facilities and community support systems, social service agencies, etc.;

* Demonstrated to have strong initiative and problem-solving abilities;

* Ability to foster good public relations and effective working relationships;

* Ability to project a progressive, positive, professional image throughout the program, hospital and community;

* Must provide police records check which is satisfactory to the hospital;

* Demonstrated ability/experience in research and program evaluation would be desirable;

* Experience working with populations of differing cultural backgrounds would be an asset;

* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area;

* Proven good attendance record with capabilities of maintaining this same standard.
