GENERAL SURGEON

Become part of a busy seven-surgeon team at Lakeridge Health Ajax-Pickering, providing broad-based community General Surgery.

This permanent .05 FTE practice share position, with an expected start date of December 1, 2019, offers an acute care general surgical opportunity in Ajax within 30 minutes of downtown Toronto.  Our current group consists of 7 General Surgeons who work in a vibrant and collegial hospital setting.  The successful candidates will have access to endoscopy (two endoscopy half days per month), OR (two OR days per month), and on-call resources in conjunction with the practice share colleague.  Current call is 1 in 12.  A Fellowship accredited by The Fellowship Council in advanced gastrointestinal minimally invasive surgery is required.  At least one-year experience as a staff acute care general surgeon in a community hospital is required.   Research experience in clinical epidemiology is preferred; masters degree pursuance is encouraged.  We are part of a five-site hospital system, in association with the Durham Regional Cancer Centre. Remuneration will be based on the OHIP fee for service, with a HOCC on-call stipend. Applicants must have certification in General Surgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and must be licensed in the Province of Ontario.
