Uterine Artery Embolization

MRI before and after embolization

MRI performed in 18 pts (32 fibroleiomyomas) before and at 2 and 6 months following embolization

  • Mean reduction in fibroid volume

  • 43% at 2 months

  • 59% at 6 months

  • High signal on T1 was predictive of poor response

  • High signal on T2 was predictive of good response

  • Degree of gadolinium enhancement did not correlate with volume reduction.
