Lakeridge Health Code Orange Cleared
Aggressive, Appropriate Patient Discharges Re-establishes Emergency Room Capacity
(Oshawa) At 3:15 p.m. today (Friday, May 01, 2009) Lisa Shiozaki, Vice-President of Patient Services at Lakeridge Health declared “Code Orange Level 2 All Clear”.
“Lakeridge Health has made considerable progress in easing the pressures at Lakeridge Health Oshawa’s ER with the assistance of Durham EMS, The Community Care Access Centre, our Long-term care facility partners as well as our Port Perry and Bowmanville hospital sites”, Lisa explained. “Although the situation is stable, we are continuing to monitor it closely.”
Lakeridge Health declared the Code Orange Level 2 (disaster) at 3:28 p.m. on Wednesday April 29. The Code Orange was initiated to focus hospital resources on the immediate priority of discharges and clearing the ER for high needs patients.
“I would like to thank the Lakeridge Health staff and physicians for working so efficiently and effectively during our Code Orange. They performed exceptional patient-centered care during this challenging time”, Lisa added.
